THE BOARD OF DEACONS
Bingo - The Board of Deacons reaches out to the residents of Heartland Health Care Center by providing bingo for them on the second and fourth Wednesday mornings of each month. Small items to use as prizes are needed including: stuffed animals, toiletries (shaving cream, liquid soap, lotion, tissues, deodorant), socks for men and women, scarves, and jewelry such as long necklaces, earrings, bracelets and pins. If you have items to donate, there is a collection box in the hallway between rooms 15 & 16. Volunteers to help with bingo at the center are always welcome and no training is required! If you are interested in assisting with this community outreach ministry, please contact Deacon Sue Rakay.
Food Pantry - The Food Pantry, managed by the Board of Deacons, is in need of the following items: Cereal, including oatmeal; pasta and spaghetti sauce; canned tomatoes and tomato sauce; canned fruit and vegetables; tuna; chili beans and chili seasoning, paper products (paper towels, toilet tissue, tissues); travel-sized toiletry items and clean paper bags. All donations may be placed in the shopping cart in the lobby area. The Deacons are grateful for your continuing support of this important community ministry.
Funeral Luncheons - A service of the Board of Deacons is to provide funeral luncheons on request for members of the congregation (current or past). These are often mid week and occur with little notice. Although the luncheon is catered, a good number of volunteers are needed for set-up, serving and clean-up. In an effort to expand the list of volunteers, please contact Deacon Joyce Barton if you are available to assist the Deacons with this ministry.
